Purely for economic reasons during the winter to keep margins in check, its happening with some european routes dropping from 3pw to 2pw in Cork until early December for example. :)

True, weirdly none of these diversions occurred during the busiest months of the year in July and August where refueling diversions would be extremely plausible to southern Europe ex-BHD.
