Plenty of people though it was a bad idea, and when the execution was so bad in terms of delays, it was apparent it was driven by the political hubris of the time, rather than any compelling reason...

I didn't say he said they WERE discontinuing the product. I said they were CONSIDERING ceasing production. What do you think he meant when he used the exact phrase "Or even discontinue the product"?...
