Like you I was once scared ****l@ss over the Pyranees or rather to the north...Cruise level probably around 300 as in SR we often flew lower than optimal for crew and pax comfort as well as shorter...

My first three aircraft were Trident, VC 10 and DC 9.

The Trident switches were opposite to the VC 10 and the DC 9 had the windshield as datem....above one way, below the opposite.
