BAE should be quite capable of designing and producing any aircraft we need. If the MoD found a few competent people to keep a very tight rein on BAE there is no reason for costs to get out of hand...

ShotOne has a point - and anyway - there is such a thing as building under licence - which would increase employment in this country and ensure we controlled the spares and the software.
