I watch this thread with amusement because so many people post without knowing the facts about Manston.

Manston averaged circa 25,000 tonnes of cargo per annum, was 8th largest airport in the UK...

Because the airport was being run as a passenger and freight airport. Take away the passenger requirement and the headcount overhead reduces dramatically. Firemen and ATCs were bleeding the place dry.

Well done. Fantastic facility and given the right business plan it will do well. Ignore the naysayers, the capacity issues in the South East will see freight move to Manston as the London airports...
