Whilst it would be possible to centralise mail/cargo operations to PIK, it should be remembered that mail is time critical and the extra time for road transport is a critical factor.

The reason that PIK owner accepted a £1 for it is simple, no one else would offer them a £1 for it and going into a independence vote on the back of avoiding further job losses at PIK or closure...
