It's not like there's a lack of suitable runways/airports in the uk so I really fail to see why it's an issue in all honesty !

Not really that much new. Only difference is that BE flights will carry a EK code. You have been able to book for example NQY-DXB for some time, only Ek website would until now sell you a mix of BE...
