There may have been a total of 4 earlier Y-8s.These are described as Y-8Ds and listed as tail numbers 5815 to 5818 MSNs have been quoted for these 4, although one of them is unconfirmed. As stated, there were 2 Y-8Fs delivered last year.

Black box from crashed Myanmar army plane retrieved
REUTERS -- Search teams retrieved the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder from a Myanmarese army plane that crashed into the Andaman Sea in early June with 122 soldiers, family members and crew on board, the Myanmar military said on Sunday.

Black Exhaust
I live in Myanmar and have seen this plane taking off from RGN on 3 occasions. It has always stood out because it is a absolute beast and leaves a heavy black exhaust trail as it ascends.

What kind of wing/tail de-ice does the Y-8 have? Was it maintained?
