Malindo Air plane catches fire..
Malindo Air confirms plane caught fire but landed safely in Subang.
PETALING JAYA: Malindo Air has confirmed that its 7.30am flight Wednesday that was bound for Kuala Terengganu and carrying the Terengganu football team, caught fire and had to make a turn back to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang.
In a press statement, Malindo Air said the ATR-72-600 twin-engine turboprop aircraft experienced the incident during ascent, at about 7,000 feet (2,133m).
"The aircraft fire detection system was activated and immediately, the operating crew carried out the emergency checklist as per the standard operating procedure to contain the situation.
"The captain decided to turn back to Subang and the aircraft landed safely in Subang without any further incident and no one was hurt.
"All the passengers were later transferred to another flight to Kuala Terengganu," said the press statement.
The airline said the cause of the incident was being investigated and that the matter has been reported to the relevant authorities and aircraft manufacturer.

Firefly had an engine fire on takeoff happen at Penang a few years back just before V1. That was then a new Aircraft.
Cause for that one was an HP fuel line coming loose in engine bay.The report I saw apparently was incorrect tightening torque figures from ATR for the fuel line hose connector.
