https://verticalmag.com/press-releas...CSzOoSMtRcOC_l

Helicopter Express, a leading global provider of helicopter services, has announced the acquisition of the aerial firefighting operations business unit and aircraft of Erickson Incorporated, the manufacturer and operator of the S-64 Air Crane® helicopter. Erickson’s remaining MRO and OEM business units will continue as a standalone and separately capitalized entity. It will continue to serve as an independent manufacturer and service provider for the S-64 Air Crane® helicopter fleets around the world.

I’m only surprised how long it took. They were looking to sell years ago.

what happened to Erickson's other ops, involving govt / DoD with likes of Bell 214ST, AS332L2 Super Puma , 412 medevac contracts at likes of Wheeler AAF supporting 25th ?

https://ericksoninc.com/

As they had taken over Evergreen's helo operation..

I came across Heli Xpress over the years ago be it their Kaman K-MAX at Heli Expo 2020 Anaheim then Bell 205A-1+ also at Heli Expo 2023 in Atlanta (my pics below)

Mind you looking at Xpress website their fleet , with Erickson aircrane atop

why did they want to sell it? I would think it was a profitable part of the business?

From what I understand one of the main issues was Erickson as an operator was actually competing with their MRO customers for work. Made for an un easy relationship at times. Now they can just become the manufacturer and MRO and concentrate on that.
