Autogyro v Helicopter which is safer?
We bought a gyro in 2011 and I enjoyed flying it for quite a few years. I can assure you if you hit another aircraft or for example pull negative G then a parachute might not be completely pointless. It just does not seem to be practical, although I saw film of tests trying to make it work. The original question related to how safe they are compared to helicopters. The statistics are pretty clear and my personal experience is in line with what they show. A Robinson would also not be my first choice for safety either. I am glad a couple of posters enjoy flying gyros. In my case been there, done that and I am about as likely to buy another as to get a motorbike, which in my limited experience offers a similar feel to the open gyros.

insurance isn't a problem at all, I've just renewed mine for Hull & 3rd party and had quotes from 4 different brokers .
As for the rash of failed take off crashes your right there is a problem and thats usually fixed wing pilots trying to fly gyro's without understanding how the rotor system behaves .
Hughes500 good to see your still enjoying life ....what's your point with the photo ? Nice to see you offering someone a lift 🤣
