Langar Hall

Popped down to Langar Hall for lunch today,
What a nice little hotel, food was excellent and the host is a little quirky woman who you just can't help but like..... No landing fee, nice food and not expensive...
Nice big field to the west , room for plenty .....
It's just inside the langar drop zone
NG13 9HD

Just reading the booklet she gave us, they have some decent and varied events there too.....

Great pub to call at for a cuppa n butty

If you're flying your heli in the Buxton area call in at the Jug & Glass Inn on the A515 Buxton to Ashbourne road. They are very heli friendly and have loads of room to land from all directions.

Coordinates: N53.08.59 W 001.46.02. Call Jannette for PPR.

Heli friendly hotels

2 Welsh belters -

Llangoed Hotel and the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel.

Been to both several times recently. A light lunch in the Llangoed lounge or the Vyrnwy Bar - unbeatable. A cream tea in the Vyrnwy restaurant is also terrific. Spectacular trips to both.

Heli friendly - no landing fee.

Hairy.

New record?

Wow... A 10 + year old thread dug up... Not having a shot - all good to add info, but that's a new record for me on any forum.

Helipads

I am sure many of you will remember----there used to be a publication entitled Helipads from about 10 years ago-its worth a look at--I have seen if for sale on ebay...if anybody want to know any particular regional locations drop me a line and I will get my copy out...

Hi all,

I have a growing list of sites that can be found here .

The map needs to be in 'Satellite' view which can be selected in the top right hand corner.

Crown @ Castle Orford

Orford is a delightful little unspoilt coastal village. If you want a Cafe Nero or Pizza Express, this isn't for you.

The Crown and Castle, operated by 'Hotel Inspector' Ruth Watson, is a gem. Our room was one of the brand new Garden Rooms and was superb, as was our evening meal and breakfast. Prices were good too.

A stroll down to the harbour was most enjoyable.

The hotel doesnt have its own helipad but does have a close relationship with a mega-friendly farmer who actually delivered us to the door of the hotel despite a 10-minute only walk.

He wouldn't take any money but I did give him a whizz round in the R44, over the fascinating Orford Ness ( Google search to check out its history). I asked him if he would accept Ł20 from other visiting pilots in the future and he told me that would be perfectly fine.

Helicopter friendly hotels.

Another very good spot is the Miskin Manor off J34 of the M4. Colin the owner is a Pilot and loves visitors on his helipad.
Always a warm welcome there.

The Crab, Chieveley, Berks.

Hi all,

I took the lovely Nicky down to The Crab last evening. I booked the Moroccan-themed La Mamoumia room, c/w private garden and hot tub. The service was superb, prices reasonable, food utterly delicious. If you like fish, look no further. I actually don't, so whilst Nicky found herself in marine paradise I throughly enjoyed my belly pork starter and Lamb main. I also cannot recall a better full-English breakfast anywhere.
They have won a string of awards over the years yet clearly continue to work very hard to maintain their formidable reputation.
The rooms are themed and very different. Check out the website.
The helipad is a small grass triangle behind the car park to the south. There is no H or windsock. I have suggested to the management that these would be a welcome addition.
Full marks to the Crab, go check it out!

Cheers Nige,

My best pal has one - although he's hoping to move to a turbine soon !

Why no mention of helicopters on the website though ???

I have always assumed helicopters are welcome at all pubs and hotels with space to land . I have found that to be the case and have been the first to land at many over the years , only due to nobody having asked before !!
I am happy to buy an expensive bottle of wine but I refuse to ever pay landing fees !! ( and when I find out too late I do a runner ....)

Nige

I'm with you, I will NOT pay a landing fee if i'm spending money in their establishment. If I'm not then I'm happy to make a gesture.

Getting JT to "spend money in their establishment" is another challenge altogether!

Landing fee at a hotel/restaurant

In the states it goes without saying about a charge for parking a car for dinner, any places over there that have a valet pilot that is qualified to park a helicopter?
