HAA aircraft hit by drunk driver

A helicopter responding to a rollover on HW 566 was struck by a suspected drunk driver this morning.
According to McKinley County Sheriff’s Office, the helicopter landed near the rollover and the crew exited to assist in the rescue. The initial rollover accident occurred between 1:15 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.
MCSO says a suspected drunk driver drove through barricades and struck the helicopter and fire truck between 2 a.m. and 2:15 a.m.
MCSO says there are no injuries, including the suspected driver. The suspect was arrested for suspected DUI and has not yet been identified.

All vehicles involved were damaged and had to be towed from the crash site.
