AW139 practical type maintenance course

Hi
I am looking for some information on AW139 practical type maintenance course EASA 147 approved or a 145 approved company course. I have completed the AW139(PWC PT6)Avionic Maintenance Type Training Course in Italy.I hold Part-66 AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE LICENCE cat.B2 with A 109 type rating. My national authority requires that I complete a practical course in order to issue the type rating on AW 139 . I have 4 years working on the AW139 in Bulgarian Border Police. I know the course is available in Agusta in Italy but is quite expensive. Do any operators run this course in house which is EASA approved?
Thank you in advance!

Your authority is right: you can endorse a new type rating on your AML once you've completed a theoretical and a practical training and related examinations on a Part 147 approved organization. A course can be approved by the authority to a Part 145 only when there's no availability of a proper one from a Part 147, that means you'll find extremely difficult, if not outside of the regulation, to have your training approved outside the one offered by Agusta or other schools.
But you're lucky because, as you've already another type rating onto your AML, you can save the on the job training that is the period, required in addition to the practical training, to be completed at a Part 145 on a real maintenance environment for the helicopter that you need to endorse into your AML. Such OJT is only required for the first type on the category/subcategory.
Good luck

Don,

"Operators" (AOC/Part M or Part 145) can't give you a Part 147 course.

I suggest you try asking Part 147 organisations if they do this course. A List of Part 147 organisations should be free on National Authority websites CAA.co.uk, ENAC, LBA, DGCA, etc...or:

AgustaWestland Yeovil Training Academy
24 Lysander Road, Yeovil, Somerset, BA20 2YB, United Kingdom
+44 (0) 1935 475222

Part 145 organisations can only give OJT for a 1st Type Rating which you don't need because you already have AW109.

Hope this helps

Don, just for your reference about training directly approved by the authority to a Part 145 please have a look to 66.B.130. You'll find there some additional information and links but, again, there's Agusta and maybe somebody else so it's very unlikely that you'll get an approval according to the above point of regulation.
