Landing site near Boroughbridge

Looking for a landing site near Boroughbridge North Yorkshire, ideally to keep a R44 at, hangarage would be a bonus ! anyone have any ideas. I know of Bagby up the road, but wondered if anyone knew of anything closer. Do the MOD bases ever allow civi aircraft to be based at them, i have Dishforth and Linton on my doorstep ?

Give Aero Maintenance Ltd a call at Walton Wood at Pontefract if it is close enough ? Its in Pooleys.

They may do hangarage and I understand are putting up another hangar this year.

Shaggy,

I know there is a FW that is allowed to park at Dishforth but he has paid the MoD indemnity fee.

Isnt Dishforth closing shortly as an air base
Where about do you live I know some people with land around borobridge

What about rufforth /bagby/ church Fenton /sherburn or durham if you want hangar age maybe Elvlngton but I don't think there is any hangerage
Mil airfields can be very difficult if you are not ex mil and very very expensive

Erfimovich how come you always recommend Walton Wood even when it's miles away? Are you on commission ?

Shaggy - you could try asking the Andrew Lawson of Aldborough Manor (google it - it's just north of Boroughbridge) - not sure he has hangarage though but definately somewhere to land. Otherwise Bagby is a good bet. Although Linton on Ouse is going to be for sale in a few years...!

Shaggy, it would be the Commanding Officer of 9 Regiment Army Air Corps but I'm afraid I don't have any contact details.

Dishforth

Md600Driver,

I live at the southern end of Boroughbridge near Minskip, next to A1, anyone with land would be handy, just want to be able to keep it near home ideally so i can get the odd hour flying done on an evening after work without travelling too far ! I had heard a couple of the squadrons were leaving Dishforth next year but wasnt sure that meant it was closing or not ? If i can't find somewhere closer i might give Steve a call at Bagby, Fenton and Sherburn bit too far away likewise Durham, great group of guys up there (did a lot of my FW IMC training there) but 45 mins each way to get there and back unfortunately !

As of September last year the boss was Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy Cook. Might still be in situ but can't confirm.

Dishforth will close as an AAC unit in 12 months or so but the Gliding Club I think is staying as is the active airfield. There used to a Parachuting Club at Topcliffe, they're another option.

Dishforth

Thanks Sloppy. So the airfield will remain active but without the helicopters then, presume to help Linton out when busy.

Cant see Dishforth staying open to help Linton if Linton's Tucanos are being replaced soon by Texans and moving to Valley. Or is that no longer on the cards?

Would speaking to Yorkshire Air Ambulance at Topcliffe be a consideration?

Contact details;

The AAC are moving out but a logistics unit are moving in so the Army are staying.
