What's the job market in South America?
I found the threads to W. Africa to be very interesting and was wondering if we have already something similar for the S. American market.
My apologies in advance if the thread already exists.
I am trying to find out how the job prospects are and if someone could point me out in the right direction, yes, another one looking for a new job... Any info or contacts are very much appreciated.
I have been in Mexico for a year now and have been doing some flying in N's but it's getting more and more difficult to find them or at least with a serious operator, otherwise it's almost impossible to convert to a mexican CPL due to the requirement to be mexican by birth.
Nicaragua has only one civilian operator using two R44 and a Bell 206L.
Colombia has currently no need for foreign pilots because they have more than enough after Vertical finished their contract in Afghanistan and had to let go a lot of people.
Peru and Bolivia are pretty much on standby waiting for new projects to start but it's and endless story. I heard Erickson flew their crane from Peru to Ecuador.
Does somebody else have any other leads willing to share or PM?

In Brazil it's going at baby steps. Currently they have more than enough people, quite note easy to find a job these days, and to fly legally here you need to be a citizen.
Petrobras is broke... Biggest corruption scandal involving the current government and Petrobras broke out few months ago, it affected directly the offshore company's and industry which had been suffering even before that.

Central America;
Several years ago I nearly had a job lined up in Guatemala doing ag work with Helicópteros de Guatemala, but chose a different hemisphere instead.
There's a tour operator in Belize, Astrum Helicopters Belize - where do you want to go today? that was looking at that time as well.
More recently a company in St. Lucia was looking for an Astar pilot.
No these aren't South America, but good luck with your search.

The idea was focused on Central America as well, I should have been more specific.
Soave_Pilot, such a shame Petrobras went down that way, it looked promising and so many people where having a close eye on it. I remember a few instructors who went to Brasil to train pilots in the MIL but they where limited to 6 months, not renewable.
The Mexican market is also very closed, you have to be citizen by birth to fly commercialy, unless you can find some N's.
You don't happen to remember the St. Lucia company carsickpuppy?
