Can you get a discount on a new R44?
Considering a purchase of a new R44, can anyone advise what sort of discount if any is viable to negotiate?

Well there's at least £20k commission on them...
Also depends on how fussed about the spec you are - Heliair or Sloanes may have some arriving that have already been spec'd and painted.
Sometimes customers cancel their order and lose their deposit so you migh be able to pick up one of those machines cheaper.
Of course the dollar has also swim in bjyers favour recently so it may still be cheaper to buy one now than one that has already been ordered and paid for.
Why don't you just ring up the dealers and ask?

I'm an avid PPRuNe Rotorhead and have always been a fan of your products and have been flying them for years. ().
You won't have heard of me but I'm a limey and live in little old England. I'm a serous Eurosceptic and would never dream of buying one of those "Eurotrash" machines so favoured by the *rogs, and besides the rotors spin the wrong way and I'm forever pushing the wrong pedal.
I'm always telling my friends that a Jeep will beat a Land Rover any day and Uncle Sam get my vote every time .
I'm looking at getting one of your swish 44's and in spite of the strength of our £££s to your $$$s I need to do a deal with you directly, and that way you can save $$ off your agent's commission. What do you say to a 20% discount? Incidentally, I need a good line in credit; zero % if you can!
If you can help me here, I'll never say a bad word about your machines; like their low inertia rotors that make autos "interesting", or the cheap door locks or the fuel tanks that tend to ........

So back to the original question which has not been answered, Can you get a discount on a new R44 in the UK?
Pick up the phone and talk to the actual people who sell them.
Given the fact that one of the actual people who actually sells them has already posted on here, I would say there's a strong chance the actual people who have the actual say in whether you can actually get a deal on one will now see you coming

Thread drift I know but having just got my R66 rating I would question why anyone would buy a R44 over a R66 at all (assuming you could afford either)
It was so much better that suddenly R44's seem dull.

New Discount vs. Used
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely understand the point of buying new and it's great if you have got the money, BUT if you can afford the sticker price of a new one, but are concerned over not getting the best deal wouldn't you;
a) Buy one with 50 hours on from the US
b) Buy an R66 - even a used one with a couple of hundred hours on
What would make all the difference to me is if you are absolutely only ever going to be the only pilot maybe there's some justification for getting a new one, but if anyone else is going to ever fly it when you are not in it - it's practically the same as having a "nearly new".
So I'd adopt the attitude of either buy used and get a deal or buy new and get what you can get but don't get hung up on the discount !

On a serious note though - I wouldn't buy an R66 if I had that kind of money - the Bell 505 looks like it's going to clean up and lets face it - Robinson haven't really been kind to their customers in recent years with all the extra bills they've faced for things. I do enjoy flying an R66 though - what pilot doesn't like a turbine and more power/speed? It's the bills I'd worry about.

I believe I was reliably informed once, by a friend of mine who had recently then been to the helicopter shed of Frank's and seen a whole big mob of R22's lined up all in the livery of Silver State Helicopters, now defunct I think but once bigger than sliced bread and Ben Hur rolled into one as a training outfit, and to the same question posed to Frank as a discount on the whole deal, was told "No."

TET, the rubber and plastic parts still age on finished and parked up helicopters. Are they somehow mothballed? Waste of money not to sell those at discount. Hell, even at least discount and new rotor mast cowling. Doesn't take much more. I flew couple R22s with SH callsign and saw handful around, including Ravens. Maybe Frank/Kurt keep them as ships to deliver short notice at premium, making up for lost cash flow. Still silly if you ask me, since sometime in 2007, as SSH ended early 2008.
VF, your OT post is OTT as usual. Other than flying Astar or Jetranger, you seem to think of Robinson products way too much. Yes, we all know of the downsides of them. We bloody fly them. Yes, I myself will try to diversify into S300 and Cabri for instructing, but at least I'm not over-qualified to fly twins IFR. You're not doing yourself (held in quite an esteem by pilots seeing your photos from Nepal) any favour with such semi-trolling anti-RHC proselytism.

Brother it's my opinion & we all have them
As mentioned before I've lost many friends or nearly thanks to the RHC product I fly over 10 variety of machines but not the RHC (anymore)
Love your choice on the G2 awesome machine, 300 is also good & safe but that's just my opinion !
