New Russian helicopter to fly twice as fast as conventional rotorcraft - English pravda.ru

'Cuse me but doesn't an increase in speed have something to do with m/r blades and not just 'new engines'?

Nah, all you need is a graphics artist, a model builder and a PR writer.

Sounds like the PSV (Perspectivny Skorostnoy Vertolyot, Advanced High-Speed Helicopter) program, funding for which was announced in May. Commonly associated with Russian Helicopters' Russian Advanced Commercial Helicopter (RACHEL) concept, which may or may not draw on the previous Ka-92 and Mi-X1 proposals.

The PSV effort, launched in 2008, is 'only' targeting a cruise speed of 450 km/h, so it's slow by the standards of Kamov's manic 700 km/h Ka-90 folding-rotor concept.

Can't help thinking that the Ka92 and Mi X1 look a bit like a EH101 and Bell 222 with go faster parts.

Must have been a bit of basic cut and paste in those graphic designs.
