Tub Matheson - Party time :-)

For all of you who know Tub, we are having beers and a bbq (ok, steaks and Pinot Noir :-) at Chopperline's Caloundra base on Friday 21st December from 3 pm onwards.

We would love to see everyone who knows or who has worked with Tub, or who has his signature in his logbook, or a story to tell - which probably means more than half of the Australian helicopter community !

Look forward to seeing you here.
Regards,

Mike

Top Bloke

I'm a pommie and had the joy of flying with Tub as he introduced me to Australia and CASA-ways some years ago. His outstanding skills as an aviator and flying instructor came to the fore when I almost came to grief landing a Squirrel in long grass and Tub's lightning reactions saved the day. Wish I could be there for the party but will be thinking of him on the day and will be forwarding a suitable single malt!

Can’t make the party (I’m 16,100 km to the NW) but will be raising a glass or three to Tub on the 21st and remembering my first stude as a newbie QHI instructor at CFS(H) Tern Hill. On the 21st December 1970 I see that we covered Exercise 24 – I’ve no idea what that was but I’m sure it was good fun (for me, anyway). It was a great pleasure to fly with such a natural talent and I remember that throughout the course the knowledge flow was almost always from student to instructor. Please pass on my best wishes to Tub and hope you get most of the partying done and dusted before the Nostradamus event!

Firecontrol, Tub's description of that moment was rather ..... exciting

Everyone please keep those replies coming - Tub's reading the thread, and frequently comes into my office to fill in the details Please let your colleagues know about the party - We'd love to see as many of you here as possible on the 21st.
Cheers,

Mike

Only ever met Tub very briefly on one occasion when paying a visit to Caloundra to catch up with my ex house sitter Barry Costa. Tub is a legend in the industry, I doubt there is a helo guy/gal who has not heard of the man. In fact I gather he has probably trained the majority. I'm betting he can look back on a career dedicated to instructing with a great deal of satisfaction, in seeing where his students have carved their own niche in rewarding careers.

Congratulations Tub, enjoy your retirement.

Thanks Tub.

Tub is an outstanding Gentlemen, Professional Pilot, Mentor and a great guy. He Gave me my Grade one Rotary instructor rating in Chopperline back in 1994. And he was, very instrumental, in my move to Lloyds Helicopters. His Inspirational qualities are second to none. I'm now in the left seat of a B767.

Thanks Tub.

Sorry to have missed this Tub, but I was in Broome.

Heartfelt regards and respect.

Plus a vote of thanks.
