Surely the problem with the Mi-34 is that it is an old design, originally built for helicopter aerobatic competitions with little regard to economics or commercial use. That is why it has failed to sell in the last 20 years.
Mil would do better to start with a clean sheet of paper !

Gazprom and Shell to develop energy projects together

A new "special relationship" between Royal Dutch Shell and Russian state gas giant Gazprom will see the two companies develop more energy projects together.

Four years after Russia forced Shell to cede control of its $22bn (£14bn) Siberian field, Sakhalin-2, to Gazprom, it appears that cordial relations have been re-established.

As part of the deal Shell has agreed to let Gazprom share some of its projects abroad if it is allowed to help develop the third and fourth stages of the Sakhalin project.

Deals could even take the form of asset swaps, as Gazprom seeks to increase its presence on the international stage
.

Gazprom and Shell to develop energy projects together - Telegraph

Yes we know that more work is go for sakhalin1 for both shells and exxon, everyone is knowing this.

THIS IS AVIASHELF HELICOPTER Mi8 MTV for Exxons

AVIASHELF is fly many oil companes , this from Sakhalinsk is using shell;

Nor only for AVIASHELF but Kazir West also, they have rtraining from shells,

In Moscow, the Shell Safety Management Systems training course was conducted by Cliff Edwards, Quality & Safety Development Manager of Shell Aircraft Limited, London. Aviashelf, RusAir, Kazair West and Clintondale Aviation were represented by Victor Aksyutin (Aviashelf General Director), John Dunlop (Aviashelf Supervisor), Yuri Shanin (RusAir General Director), Alexander Trushin (Flight Safety Advisor), Serik Zhumagaliev (KazAir West Chief Operations Officer), Victor Synitsin (Clintondale Aviation Technical Director) and Blair Dyer (Clintondale Aviation Director of Operations). Yuri Tchoufyrin, Aviation Manager of Shell Exploration & Producing Services, Russia, also attended.

The purpose of the course was to present a systematic approach to aviation safety including the way to analyse areas of greatest aviation risks in our operations and the determination of actions to prevent, minimize or mitigate such risks. Because Shell believes that this system improves flight safety and reduces risk, compliance with its principles is a pre-requisite for future contractors that provide ongoing aviation services.
The companys fly for europe/america oil company have all good stnadard for safety and for flight schedules.

Now become more busy for Sakhalinsk - if you want work then come to HeliRussia show coming may which I talk before.

India signs contract for 80 MI-17's with Russia

India and Russia have today signed a contract for supply of 80 MI-17V-5 medium lift helicopters for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Valued at USD 1.6bn deal had been clinched just before Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev's state visit to INdia during a meeting of the High Level Monitoring Committee headed by Defence Secretary Vijay Singh and Russian Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation Director Mikhail Dmitriev here on Tuesday.

The Cabinet Committee on Security too had given its go-ahead to acquisition of the helicopters at its meeting on Wednesday.

The helicopter contract was signed by Defence Ministry's Director General (Acquisitions) Sashi Kant Sharma and Rosoboronexport Director General A P Isaykin after the officials talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Medvedev.

British-Russian Cooperation

BP, the British oil giant, last night staged a dramatic rapprochement with the Russian government, signing a broad new alliance with the country's state-owned oil company, Rosneft, to hunt for oil and gas in the Arctic.

BP's Bob Dudley and Rosneft's Eduard Khudainatov
shake hands, watched by Chris Huhne

Under the deal, BP will help exploit new oil and gas exploration licences awarded to Rosneft last year, which cover approximately 125,000 square kilometres in the shallow waters of the South Kara Sea, an area roughly equivalent in size and prospects to the UK North Sea.

Russian state oil giant takes $7.8bn stake in BP - Business News, Business - The Independent

The production (barrels per day) for South Kara is expect same or more than north seas for the UK.

Mi-8/17 plus maybe Mi-38 when ready will support when first rigs and ships are in place.

This is area (NW of Siberia) where explorations commence.

If the reserves which BP and Rosneft are hoping for are found, this may become one of the largest extreme cold weather helo ops.

Wouldn't enjoy ditching in the Kara Sea though!

Private helicopter/aircraft over Moscow!?

When I was there last time in Sep 2010., that was dream, how is today in 2011.!?

After this news dated on 21 November 2010.

Russian authorities have given pilots of small private aircraft permission to fly over
Moscow, the capital, without waiting days for flight clearance.
The move is seen as a long awaited boost to the country's aviation standards.
Many hope it will bring some relief to the city's notoriously congested roads, but there
are also safety concerns over Moscow's skies becoming more crowded.

What a shame... some people are not decent but some even go over the edge, just spotted my own pictures of Kazan Mi 17V5 taken during MAKS 2009.....on "competitor" advertisement ;-)

My own pictures used on conXXXer.com in attempt to sale of „virtual“ Mi helicopter…. To be more shameless, that gentleman is using 2 pic exactly the same one like within my own add already present there 2 months (on same site). The third one he picked up directly from our web site.

Be careful, I am really wondering... can he provide real helicopter? Obviously he is not able, to approach close enough to real one, just to take decent photos :-)))))
My photos are:

Didn't know the 17 had a glass cockpit, and a nice one at that. Remote video cameras and graphic systems display (is that fuel?) are right up there with modern times. Using the flashy MFD to show '50's era analog instruments maybe not so much.

Gotta love the foot straps to keep your feet on the pedals for those negative "g" bunts.

The first design change you need to make is to allow enough ventilation for the pilots so you don't need those rotten fans!!

However, in the hover or sitting on the ground, a cool fan would be a blessing in a lot of machines...

BP's deal with Rosneft on the verge of collapse - Business News, Business - The Independent

This is unwelcome news indeed. As mentioned earlier, the South Kara Sea exploration efforts were mooted as likely to become one of the largest (if not the largest) cold-weather offshore helicopter operations. BP's involvement was also set to guarantee the involvement of a number of international aviation personnel related to the management of the helo op.

Strategically for BP this represents a challenge in their global search for 'significant' oil reserves in which they maintain a significant stakeholding.

US/Rusky Afghan Ship Deal Finally Concluded

Mi17 - The helicopter of choice for the US Government abroad

Russia and the United States have agreed on the conditions of a $367-million deal for the supply of Russian helicopters to Afghanistan and will sign the document soon, the Kommersant daily reported today citing military officials.

The United States and Russia have been in talks for over a year on the deal to provide the much-needed vehicles for the NATO mission in Afghanistan.

"The Americans have informed me that the contract will be signed very soon," said General Abdul Wahab Wardak, Chief of Staff of the Air Force in Afghanistan. "We expect to receive 21 Mi-17 helicopters by the end of the year."

He said the cost of one helicopter had been agreed at $17.5 million.

NSRWA: "So, how much does your Mi-17 cost?"

Rosoboronexport: "Сколько это стоит? 8 миллионов. Nyet, wait. How much is it for one of your чернота Hawks?"

NSRWA: "A UH-60? Oh, about $18 million."

Rosoboronexport: "Ah. In that case, the Mi-17 she is $17.5 million..."
