Qatar Seakings used for a variety of roles, but mainly SAR and trooping (parachuting, roping, abseilling etc). 11 aircraft but short of crews.

New Jobs

Does anybody know if the new advert is just for SAR duties or will you be expected to carry out the "SAR and trooping (parachuting, roping, abseilling etc)" roles i.e. just like the old days in the Mil??

I believe the advert is for Instructors, they will be required to teach all of the Military flying skills to new pilots, and to teach advanced stuff to the existing pilots. Its a 50/50 mix of SAR and SH.

FBH recruiting for Seaking?

Not sure I would touch FBH with a disinfected barge pole at the moment. Their HR record leaves a lot to be desired. I have a mate who's going through his tribunal this week following the redundancies from last year. Also that crews are resigning in droves at Valley.

i also believe that another company in the ME is also advertising for Sea King crews so I doubt that FBH have the contract yet, just trying to bolster their bid so they can say they have crews ready to go. After all, they didnt get the AW139 contract in Qatar!

Why would they be recruiting when the Qataris are looking at buying a replacement for the Sea King? FBH trying to raise the company profile? Lots of not so happy workers Aircrew and Groundcrew in FBH at the moment. It's been about a year since the last round of redundancies, must be time for some more?

I understand the AW139 positions in Qatar were through a recruiting company, National Academy for Professional Training (NAPT). From what I'm hearing, not a lot of happy pilots over there. A mate of mine joined last year and has nothing positive to say about either NAPT or the QEAF operation.

I know a number of pilots on this contract, since the majority starting last Oct/Nov they have done very little flying averaging just 2 to 3 hours in six months. Turn up for work at 6am, morning brief, then play sport or swim until knock off and drive home. The main problem is lack of engineers to service the aircraft. Good money, but little progress since the inset.
