Dash 8

The only information I can share is Engineers forget to put the igniter plugs back in . One had to make an emergency landing recently because one igniter was left out of each engine. red face for VP of maintenance

If the igniters were left out and the machine started and took off, how did it end up as an emergency landing, and how specifically for not fitted igniters??

Cool

Hey guys. Just new to the forums here. Figured I'd drop in and say hello. Was wondering how things are going with ADA. I'm just in the process of getting my IFR ticket. Been flying VFR for the last 10 years or so doing mainly vertical reference work. I was curious to know what it's like these days flying for ADA. I've done some work in the UAE and Saudi (VFR) in the past and am looking for round two in the middle east. As long as it's not in Saudi.
By next year I'm hoping to be at around 4500TT, 500 on 212s.
Realistically I'm about a year and a half away from attaining my unrestricted ATPL. I noticed there hasn't been too much activity on this thread but noticed ADA's posting for pilots on their website.

Just a quick couple questions if anyone would care to enlighten me. Firstly, are most of the guys there touring 6/6 or do some guys opt to re-locate and live in the UAE. If you re-locate, do you bring the wife?

Secondly, I'm getting wildly different opinions as to what a guy can expect to make yearly over there. I would very much appreciate If someone could PM me in regards to the rates for FO and Captain for 2012-2013.

I'd be open to any other tid bits of info and or advice that anyone can share with me. Cheers!

Years ago ( early 90s) a friend of mine gave me a very funny checklist of things to do when your loved one returns from Abu Dhabi.

Anyone have a copy of it?

Cheers

Abu Dhabi Aviation 2013

Hi all.

I am a licensed engineer and I am looking for information of Abu Dhabi Aviation because every post I have seen are old.

I want to know how are currently housing conditions, because I've seen that building a residential complex for employees of ADAV near Khalifa City B. I have read something of a camp, but not sure.

I also want to know how long it takes the selection process for I have sent all the documents requested a month ago.

Please appreciate all the help.

Greetings.

Mmmmm ....

ADA housing now is excellent.

Selection takes as long as it takes ... depending on how desperate they are to get you there and licensed ... there IS process to go through which involves a 'selection committee' .... so enjoy the wait.

Mmmmm ...

ADA (usually) require any new pilots hired to be IFR rated for the licence issue.

It is not (?) possible to get a 'new' IR in Abu Dhabi .... ADA usually require prospective pilots to also have an ATPL H for initial licence conversion as it is not possible to upgrade a converted CPL to an ATPL without having to do the 'complete' ATPL exam' set to then upgrade after the initial licence issue.

ADA machinery is excellent ... IFR capability is basically to cover regulatory requirements ... the only really 'BAD' Wx happens in the mid winter storm season ... other than that its poor vis due dust sand etc etc ... BUT you do need to be capable and able ... the environ can bite !!

Good luck
