BlenderPilot and autorotate,

This is a Djinn SO 1221, I logged about 150 H crop spraying back in 1976, and I crashed one.

The engine produces compressed air which is ejected at the blades tip, hence no need for a T/R.

Dear ATN, (and Ned)

Thanks for the info, you are my hero, flying one of those must have been a true adventure.

Did you have yaw control? How?

BlenderPilot,

Yaw control by a rudder like fixed wings, in hover the engine exhaust provides the airstream to the rudder, not very effective though, depending on the crosswind for example to turn 90 to the right it may be easier to turn 270 to the left.

Cheers

TC - Thanks for the comments and glad you like them, pubs and pics that is. I just try to capture dynamic type images that show helicopters doing what they do best.

I have some other "**** Hot" type images with helos in 'unique' angles but if I post them here will get rained on by those saying it doesnt show helicopters in a professional light etc.

Autorotate.

Neville

I'm sure we'd enjoy seeing some of your 'unique' angle shots.
Why not post some? We're a broad-minded lot.

Here's a couple of shots of Canada's new SAR aircraft, the CH-149 Cormorant (or EH 101 Merlin). Pictured in YGE (Golden BC) on a search for a missing Cessna 172, July 2003

I love that shot of yours showing Mustang Helicopters Bell 205. Fantastic shot.

Few more of mine for the viewing.

Here are a few more 407 pictures, my specialty...

Working the 407 at 9,500' in the Rocky Mountains.

Heli-Skiing in the Purcell range

And finally, one 212 maintenance shot, performed in a less-than-ideal situation.....
We had to change a swashplate on this 212 in the field, this neat portable crane attaches to the side of the 212
