Arrow Kemble Last Chance !!!!

Copy of E-mail

Lets not let another Airfield disappear due to apathy on our part.
If you know of your local airfield has the petition up on the wall to sign please ask them to send it in.

"As you must all know, there is an enforcement notice to stop general flying at Kemble by 30th January 2008.

The opportunity for signing the petition against this ENDS this weekend.
So far there are only 902 signatures, which is very disappointing, as it represents only a fraction of PFA membership.

If any of you are not aware of this petition and wish to sign, please go ASAP to:"

I've signed up but I suspect that Yahoo (the email address I used) is dumping the machine generated email which this site sends out for verification.....

And send/fax/email copies of logbook entries showing your trip(s) to Kemble. Glyn and the team will be most appreciative.

Done.

Quote from the petition:
Quote:
Cotswold District Council is seeking to bring to an end flying at Kemble Airfield near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. Kemble is one of The UK’s finest airfields and as well as providing a great deal of pleasure for pilots and aviation enthusiasts also provides local employment opportunities and flying training.
The site has been an aerodrome for almost 70 years, and enjoys the support of 85% of the local community (according to Kemble & Ewen Parish Council survey 2006) thanks in part to its careful noise abatement procedures. The loss of such a facility would be a tragic blow for the General Aviation community in the UK.

I'v also just signed.

I note that it is Cotswold District Council that is seeking to stop the flying. While Kemble village is in Gloucestershire, the bulk of the airfield is actually in Wiltshire. I wonder if North Wilts District Council have been consulted.

Signed.
What is the reason for closure, if the vast majority are happy ????
Do they own it or do they have a developer in mind who will pay for the privilege of building more rabbit hutch estates? money usually appears some where in these things.

i have just added 50 or so more. Just one question .....if we help save it , can they look at sorting out the fuel there ??? It is one of those crazy places where you have to allow an hour to get someone to come to you , then walk 500 yards in the rain to pay other than the fueling it is a fine airport !!!
