Excellent flight/video (Rio), those were the days huh? I was only one year old when that took place.

Wow, the skid actually came off and yet the chopper is still upright. Great save on the part of the pilot.

So much pressure is put on the pilot. He worried about what the management would say, eventhough he probably just saved them hundreds, if not millions in damages and law-suits.

Thums up to the pilot.

This is from the movie "Straight Up". It's all about helicopters! A little cheesy, but it's done really well. It was shot in large format(70mm). I got this on www.deepdiscountdvd.com for about $12USD, free shipping too.

Check it out though!

Cheers-

Gazelle crash

Don't know what the deal is here but sounds like engine failure.

Maybe someone could translate please

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9QOubc517M

Edit...You can actually see what looks to be a wire at the end of the video, so may be a wire strike but you can definately hear the engine spool down too.

Just been searching and found this....SREBRENICA - A helicopter of SFOR crashed about 1,00 pm in the region of Kazan near Srebrenica, but a precise number of passengers who were eventually killed or survived this accident is not known yet, SRNA learns. The accident occurred in the moment when the helicopter was flying low over group of residents of Srebrenica who were protesting against arrival of Municipal Assembly's representative from B&H federation in this town and then it grazed with its propeller wire cables on the long-distance power line.

Possibly related?

re Gazelle in Bosnia. There is a previous thread about this accident (was Santa involved somewhere along the line?) and one of the theories was that the infamous 'jacques stall' was a factor.

Just been searching and here's the original thread:

And some photos of the crash scene, courtesy of Lovre:
