Exclamation That paperwork IS important . . .

Saw this on the ATSB web site :

R22 accident report

Seems like the paperwork wasn't up to scratch. There have been allegations about machines flying more hours than those documented before - like the main blade which came off an R22 some years ago.

Greetings from Australia, i saw your post and thought i would respond.
Firstly lets me say WAKE UP !! The helicopter Industry is going to take any short cuts it can find if it means Dollars in the bank and a business continues.

Until the regulary bodies be it the CAA or CASA as is our case! take the required steps to stamp these operators out .. they will continue.. As a former Helicopter Business operator myself i can speak with some authority on the matter.....
I have seen first hand how engineers work closely with the guy who pays the bills!! and ensure hours are not recorded so as to extend the life of that critical replacement part, Or how CASA Flying operations inspectors have little "Real World Experience" in how to do their JOB!! but with every one covering their own arses no action is ever taken... i could relate personal stories that would make your hair stand on end!!! and in the end you can say well Jesus!! if the pilots won't fly"em then that will stop them. The answer once again is no it wont, They want to fly and they need those hours!! so in the end.. that Helicopter business better stay in business..
This is the real world of helicopter business.
Welcome!! hope you enjoy your stay...
