There's not much new stuff in the engineering world; it's all been done before.
For example, the Fairey Rotodyne was way ahead of its time, phenomenal payload and speed. Just a bit too noisy for some when the tip jets were lit.
Self de-icing rotor blades are really good at this time of year.
