I feel an ALMOST overwhelming urge to tell certain people to shut the FK up but that would ruin my so far stable demeanour and probably raise my blood pressure on an otherwise sunny day.

Since when did a rumour network become a personal insult platform, whichever side a person happens to find him/herself on ?

Disappointing.

Disgusting Posts

I am appalled at some of the posts blatantly attacking Nigerian culture, people, way of life and business without substantial information.

My suspicion is that apartheid is overflowing from those that lost a country that they never really had and now come to Nigeria because they cannot have a decent paying job in their temporary country of residence, of which they have no option but to call home and hold passports of.

This is a very typical behaviour of some of those from the south of the continent. Whether Escravos, Eket, PH or Lagos. Should you have the manhood to speak such nonsense before the people you are attempting to humiliate on this "productive forum'. Go 'home' and cry to your wife, boyfriend or girlfriend. If you want to work in Nigeria, comply and accept. if you cannot accept it- change it- if you cannot change it--- Shhhh! little boy for this is a big boys world.

There are more pressing issues to worry about than your dislike for Nigerians..

Static Balance, at risk of further inflaming already tender sensetivities, have you actually identified these guys as South Africans, from their "lost country" as you call it, or are you simply using that as a reason to lump Expats who complain as such, regardless of their Nationality?

Bristow's nationalization plan

Today, Bristow Nigeria's chief pilot in Lagos, accidentally popped the floats of an S-92 during a pre-flight test. He was carrying out the test by himself, when he should have been with another pilot following the check list and the old "challenge and response" method....

What kind of a forum is this?

Yesterday the last few words of my post were "he is Nigerian" which I see today has been deleted from the message. Why?
First of all, I stated a fact. And second, I am just mentioning someone's nationality. What kind of a forum is this were you can't even state the facts of what is going on? I did not insult anyone. I guess if had written he was British it would have been acceptable??
Haven't you noticed that in the past few weeks no one has posted on here? There is a lot going on here but my guess is that people are tired of getting their messages edited or even deleted. Or maybe people have been posting messages and you have been busy deleting them!?!?

...probably to de-escalate the "outrage" coming your way.
Cue overblown "outrage" and "disgust" etc etc
That was a funny story though, the old accidentally Pop the Floats thing.

Yes I had noticed the appearing/disappearing message thing.
Unfortunately the Bristow Nigeria nationalisation is actually a legitimate talking point but seems like we can't discuss it.
(Unless you're a newly qualified captain slagging off expats pilots)

tgvbhy15, since you want to infer that your comment about nationality was factual and harmless, here is the actual post that you made before it was edited.

In the time that you have been here (posting solely on this thread) you have made more offensive comments about Nigerians than anyone that I can recall. The responses from other Rotorheads reinforced my decisions to cull those unwarranted attacks based on race and nationality. It amazes me that you remain there, but it will not amaze others that you are no longer welcome to post here and cause such dissent.

Dancing between the raindrops of faux outrage and interminable nationalism on this thread is, quite frankly, a thankless task. If the remarks are left unchecked then there is mass outrage from 'the other side' and exodus to hastily set up sites where the decision is condemned for months. If I do moderate (after a very fair warning given earlier on this very page) then there is an equal amount of faux outrage by the mortally offended poster(s). Reasonable and balanced discussion is one thing; overt racist or xenophobic comments are both offensive and unacceptable from either side of the spectrum.

I'm more than happy to close the thread altogether if fair and balanced conversation is deemed impossible.

Remember that the Ts & Cs that you signed up to include accepting the umpire's decision. I don't get paid nearly enough to keep reading the same tickets being bought for the outrage bus taking the same journey, nor to keep going around checking that the ticket is for the correct destination.

In fact, I don't get paid

so we can infer that all expats are screwing around on their wives but we can't say someone is a Nigerian?
Then when you do edit it as the "moderator" you don't show it as being censored anywhere.
Really?
Who's pushing an agenda now "Senior" pilot....
Good night pprune, good riddance.

And yet, TukTuk, you have no issues with your own comments about Brits and the locals?

I'm guessing that was a comment from a Brit too.
That place really needs more Air Log guys and less dead wood.
But everywhere you go, no matter how much of a sh* hole it is there's always some expat telling you what a big time they're having.
As someone explained to me ,".. the guys that stick around in Nigeria are either drunks or there for the black P*ssy..".And a drunk in Nigeria is the sort of manager that doesn't show up for the 6am bus because he's just left the bar. Twice a week...
Im sure that's not totally correct but it's an interesting observation....
The only 'agenda' around here would seem to be yours. But since you have elected to leave PPRuNe we'll never know, and there's no point in correcting you where you accuse the mod of not showing that a post has been edited. Look at the footnote to tgvbhy15's post!

Thumbs up

Keep up the good work Senior pilot,

I think it is a general problem for forums that legitimate talking points cannot be discussed without some beycomers react with insulting or rasist content.
For me personally the brightness of their posts only reflects and this gives a clearer image of the poster.

I hope that Senior Pilot can keep up his good work to weed out any insulting and racist content. He might miss some things but I am sure that if you drop him a PM, he will look into it when he has some unpaid time left.

Regards SLB

Good riddance to TukTuk BoomBoom and any others who want to make racist posts on this site or slag people off just because of their nationality. I get sick of covert as well as overt racism. Yes there are bad Nigerians and with a population of more than 160 million, it's not surprising. There are just as many bad Brits, Americans, French or any other nationality you care to mention. At the end of the day most of the people in most of the countries in the world just want to lead a comfortable life and if they have children, give them a better life.
