Changes in engine sound during flight

Sorry if this question was answered before. As a passenger, especially when I am seated in front of the engines, there is a noticeable change in the sound produced by them when the aircraft climbs and accelerates. The sound starts to look like wind blowing, and the engine sound that we were hearing before starts to decrease until it is just this wind sound and nothing more.

What is this sound? Is it just the air passing by, which is obviously faster at greater airspeeds? The interesting question, for me, is that the overall sound volume doesn´t increase much (at least in my seat as a passenger), it just changes.
