Help Needed. Converting type rating.

I would like to know how can I convert my foreign flying type rating to my FAA license. Currently my FAA doesn't have a type rating (b737). Do I need to redo the whole type rating under the FAA or I could just convert it with just a check ride. Your help is appreciated

FAR 61.63 says you have to have an "authorized instructor" sign off that you competent in knowledge and proficient in operating the aircraft before the checkride. I can't imagine an instructor signing you off without training you. If you are going to do the checkride in a sim that falls under part 142 of the regs and you will have to complete a training center's approved course before the checkride.
