Strange Heathrow Activity

Saw some peculiar activity over the skies of LHR this afternoon.

Can anyone provide anymore information? Could be weather related!

Thanks!

First two pictures: BA Shuttles cancelled their approach, climbed and went into a hold.

Third Picture : MSR 777 establishing a hold over Reading?

No idea but here where I am the Ops room have said they're being bombarded with calls from their counterparts at LHR trying to see where they can send any a/c that want to divert away but no information as to why they might want to.

EDIT: Thunderstorms apparently

Very bad thunderstorms over Berkshire coming from the Heathrow direction so I'm not surprised.

Massive thunderstorm about 1500, I was at Brooklands, heard the loudest thunderclap I've ever heard, a tree had been struck and exploded. This was accompanied by very heavy rain.

I should imagine it was all weather related. The Lambourne hold pattern appeared to shift a bit, aircraft were also holding early for Lambourne, out east over. Southend area.
