Two questions:decel to green dot and easyjet Sop
Hi everybody. Just two question. On airbus family, like A319, when do you start decelerating from 250 to green dot? Do you refer to miles to run and for instance at 20nm you start decelerating? Do you refer to platform altitude or do you refer to miles from the FAF?
I know easyjet sop is "turn on landing lights at a certain point below Fl100 and before short final, so gear down. Do you usually turn on deceleratin below 250kts?

Hi there.
Usually we try to be flap 1 at LOC intercept, BUT with that said, there should be some common sense involved, in that where you actually intercept, if you are 30 odd miles out, maybe better to wait.
If we fly all in manged speeds, and DES, there is actually a "decel point", where it will automatically start decel to green dot, and stay there, if no flaps at that time are selected.
Landing light wise, yes, usually at gear down, but, there again, if you are flying in a area of high intensity traffic, specially at night, why not throw them out, so everybody can see you just a little better....
Hope this info. helps

As a spectator I'm curious in managed DES use. Do you add a speed constraint such as 200 at the LOC intercept point or you just leave published constraints (if present) and the distance the FMGC creates to decelerate is just enough?
