Temporary approach procedures for LHR
As you probably all know the ban on flights over central London is due to continue until Saturday. What are the temporary procedures for approaches to 27L and 27R (if at all), given that the prevailing wind is either westerly or south westerly? Is it possible to intercept the localiser much closer in (via a dog-leg route) thereby avoiding the need to route over central London?
Cheers.

Thankfully I'm on leave but speaking to a colleague tonight I gather that they can overfly London, but not low enough to join the ILS. This morning they were routeing traffic around the restricted area to join the ILS at 6-8 miles out. Somebody who is actually working might be able to provide more info..
Incidentally, I gather that the daily movement record at Heathrow has been broken on the last three Fridays but I doubt if it will happen today...

Only using 27L for landing at the moment due no ILS 27R. Inbound aircraft tend to be routed on a westerly heading 3-5 miles south of the final approach track from about 15-20 miles out till 8-10 miles, then a right turn on to a closing heading, to intercept at 6-8 miles. On Tuesday inbounds from the north were routeing virtually overhead LHR, then joining the pattern from the south, but now they just go on a very wide base over E London.

The only additional point is to ask all crews to listen in!
Wed and Thurs was spent telling all crews that they would be taken through from the North at 22 miles or so to establish at 9 miles from the South. Lost count of the number of times aircraft requested to establish and one started turning towards to do so.
As is said above, there is no 27R ILS at the moment, but some were going visual.
Be safe.
