Triple drift on outbound leg, if heading is within thirty degrees of wind, use single drift instead.

Adjust outbound leg time by 1 second/knot headwind or tailwind.

Usually works for me - I understand that there are other methods.

cheers!

Hi, I trained with a school at bournemouth they used the 3 x drift method. However if you reach thirty degrees off "gate" outbound before your turn in time, turn and to follow the radial that keeps you 30 degrees off until you reach the time.

The purists may turn in their graves but it works and at twin speeds keeps you in the protected area. Get the licence then let the navigation system worry in future!
