Billins Air Services @ Cranfield
Hi folks
Has anyone any info about Billins Air Services at Cranfield? Are they any good? I'm narrowing down my choices for multi CPL/IR training.
Anyone know what the instructors are like? What about the owner? The aircraft? Do they really go out of their way to help? They are quite cheap I noticed, does this get reflected in the training?
Anyone any views on Cranfield as a place for training?
I would like to get an idea of what they like before I decide to contact them.
Bodie

BillieBob,
They have only just received approval. However, the instructors there have been conducting CPL/IR training with other companies. Just wondered if anyone has been instructed by any of these guys (or gals).

IR @ BILLINS
hi Bodie. sorry late reply. in answer to your question i have done my IMC, NR, twin rating and some hour building at billins. I have known the management at Billins for some time now and my opinions are completely un biased. They seem to have devised an attractive IR proposal and like all things new should require more investigation than just visiting a renown school and spending thousands (like me). The IR training 'aint such a big deal' so dont think the more you pay the better my chances of passing. as i said before i'd be happy to share my experiences with you, just send me EMail. good luck whatever you do.

Regarding the IR training at BILLINS AIR SERVICES, YES they do have approval, I have seen it with my own eyes. The certification is on the wall for everyone to read. I have just completed some hour building and a night rating at Billins and can honestly say the school is a friendly and professional outfit, unlike some I have had the misfortune to spend my hard earned at. Hoping to return in the near future for cpl/IR. Richard and the boys get my vote.

GOOD SCHOOL BILLINGS,HAS BEEN GOING A LONG TIME, YOU WILL BE TAUGHT PRACTICAL IR, NOT JUST HOW TO PASS THE CAAFU TEST.RICHARD VERY EXPERIENCED PILOT WITH BOTH SINGLE & MULTI CREW OPERATION.IF YOU WANT SOMEONE SAT NEXT TO YOU WITH MORE STRIPES THAN A ZEBRA THEN THIS IS NOT THE SCHOOL FOR YOU!
