Island Hopping Opportunities

Hi all, and Happy New Year.

I'm currently wading through the ATPL Exams, and hope to be up to fATPL/ME level by Autumn this year.

I was curious about opportunities for island hopping in places like the Maldives, Seychelles etc. At 23 I have no ties in this country and am prepared to travel anywhere for that elusive first flying job.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of such operations and their recruiting methods and entry requirements?

Also, would such operations require an IR, as I was hoping of gaining some commercial experience for 6 months or so before commencing an IR Course?

If not island hopping, are there any other chances for someone willing to travel and work anywhere?

Any advice much appreciated.

Best regards,

Matt

Question Try this.....

Have a look at the Maldivian Air Taxi website.

From chit chat in the African forum I have deduced that you need to turn up to their door as they don't really reply to CVs. Also Twotter or twin turbine time apparantly is the thing that gets you noticed.

Basically the ladder has runs on it and you need to at least be on the first one to start getting twin turbine jobs.
Flying Instructor=less naive pilot who though he new it all after ATPL's then discovered how to fly and operate aircraft commercially, and i'm not just talking about maintaining height either.
Then air taxi pilot and so on.

Good luck and if you get a job out there fairplay to you
