Question Sky Truckers!

Hi folks,

Did anyone else see the show "Sky Truckers" on Discovery Wings tonight at 2200? Did anyone, like me, think "Yeah! I wanna do that"?

Basically, my question for any transport pilots out there is: How do you get into transport flying and what type of licence/ experience do you need? Is it easier to get a job in transport than airlines?

For anyone who missed it, the programme followed the crew and ground ops of transport firm Cargo Lion through a typical tour.
Looked like bloody hard work and not for the faint hearted (a go-around in a DC.8 at c.500ft because a C.5 Galaxy is taking off dead ahead???? ) but very interesting and very "hands on"!

I would love to hear any advice from any transport pilots out there.

Thanks, VFE.

Cool

I wouldn't fancy flying in Nigerian air space!!! ATC had no radar at the time they were flying into Nigeria on the prog. I hope they had TCAS and all the other Nigerian traffic had transponders....seems unlikely!
Looked like a very hard, but very interesting job!

Ah...Skytruckers, yes I've watched that prog. four times now. Inspirational stuff especially if your feeling fed up and skint!
Well worth watching out for on Sky, its on every couple of months or so.
