Have PPL already and am thinking of ATPL. One advantage of being "old" is that I own a 1/7 share in a PA28 181 Archer with RNAV. It has a certificate of transport (as it used to be used for imc/ir training)so for flight training, I only need pay for instructors time.
Apart from the obvious hour building, does anyone know if I can use, or maximise the use of this for ATPL training (e.g. I can do my night rating in it all in one night at Coventry). Alot of CPL/ATPL flight training is done in a warrior or cessna anyway !!!

No problem with using your own aircraft for hours building or your night rating. In order to use it for CPL training it needs to be approved by the CAA and must be done at an approved Flight School (so they will need to register your aircraft as one of theirs temporarily). You will need to have it approved for the CPL Skill Test, which is around £64 I think (assuming it is a complex aircraft). The same applies for the IR training.

No good for the CPL flight test as it needs to be done in a complex single.

No good for the IR test as you'll need a multi IR for it to be of any use.

Apart from that, nice plane to hours build in though!
