Pilot training shows
Hi everyone, I'm gathering as much information as possible before making the decision to commit to my dreams of flying for a living. I've recently been to Pilot Career Live in London where I've met quite a few flying school reps which I thought was a great way in gathering information and clarifying things... Bonus added that it was fairly close to where I live.
One of the schools I've had a chat with is Kura Aviation, they told me they are organising a free event called Airline Pilot Training. I had a look at their website. It's on next month in Stratford Upon Avon. Has anyone been there? Is it worth going to? It'd be great to know if anyone has any feedback before committing as my father would need to take the day off work and me not go to school that day as well as driving up 2h30!
Thanks in advance!

You'll learn a lot more by looking on here than you will from talking to flight school reps. They are there to sell you something. The are no guarantees of a job, and plenty who have spent a fortune only to end up with a licence and no job. Decide your budget. If you can afford £50k go modular. If you can afford £100k you can go integrated. You'll end up with the same piece of paper at the end. If you go modular, don't bother wasting your time trying to get a PPL in the UK, it will take you months. Head to the US and get one in a month. Then hour build and get an IR. Do your ATPLs then convert your IR in the UK and do a 15 hour CPL. You can still choose a fancy school lot KURA if you want the job connections.

This forum can often be a farce, however there is some really good info on here with some genuine posters who are willing to help. About 5 years ago I started getting real about my dream, I went to all the open nights with the fancy water bottles etc etc that resembled more going to a real estate convention than anything to do with flight training.
The industry ain't pretty, achieving the dream isn't easy by any stretch. However I will testify that if you want it enough, you will get it.
I personally wouldn't go through that hassle of going to stratford upon avon, perhaps if you had your fATPL it would be worth it (Kura basically help people who went the modular way find jobs in airlines, I'm presuming you have not got your license yet so this is very far away from where you really need to be looking). Your priority now should be how you will get your license, integrated or modular? Self sponsored or an airline cadet programme?
I will add though, if you are still in school the you need to focus on that for the time being. Don't become too distracted, research it a bit on the side, it shouldn't consume you just yet though. Get the good grades and that will make things easier down the line (many cadet programmes demand certain grades etc)
Ultimately however, to help us to help you we'll need to know your financial situation.
Best of luck
