Advice please on bridging exams Fixed wing Atpl to Heli Commercial

Hi,

I have pasted below a response from the CAA could anyone advise on which
organistations do this type of study package for the exams?

Thank you for your email. In response to your specific query:

“I have a Fixed Wing EASA ATPL and need to confirm what exam credits I am entitled to for the Helicopter Commercial licence?”

The holder of an ATPL(A) may claim credits for nine of the fourteen ATPL(H)IR theory examinations.

We can clarify that the bridging credits for the holder of an ATPL(A) seeking to undertake ATPL(H)IR theoretical knowledge examinations are set out in Appendix 1(A)(3) of the EASA Aircrew Regulation. I have highlighted the applicable extract from the regulations below, for your information:

Appendix 1 to Part-FCL Crediting of theoretical knowledge

A. Crediting of theoretical knowledge for the issue of a pilot licence – Bridge instruction and examination requirements

3 ATPL
3.1 An applicant for an ATPL holding an ATPL in another category of aircraft shall have received theoretical knowledge bridge instruction at an ATO according to the differences identified between the ATPL syllabi for different aircraft categories.

3.2 The applicant shall pass theoretical knowledge examinations as defined in this Part for the following subjects in the appropriate aircraft category:

021 – Aircraft General Knowledge: Airframe and Systems, Electrics, Powerplant, Emergency Equipment
022 – Aircraft General Knowledge: Instrumentation
034 – Performance Helicopters,
070 – Operational Procedures, and
080 – Principles of Flight

We hope this clarifies and satisfactorily answers your query.

You would still have to take 5 exams - aside from Performance, and a bit of Operations, the subject matter for the CPL(H) and ATPL(H) is pretty much the same for bridging (INS is also not included). Is there any reason for doing the CPL(H)? Later upgrading could be a problem if you go just for that.
