Aviation Southwest - Exeter Airport

Just wondering if anyone has a recent/relevant experiences to share about Aviation Southwest based at Exeter Airport? Particular info about the DCT course they run and the quality of training received would be great.

Many Thanks

Excellent place. Great instructors, great place to fly from. Free coffee. They also own Airways flight training next door so you have a wealth of ex-military and ex-airline experience to draw from. They got me done in minimums for everything.

Thanks

Appreciate that, I wasn't aware they also owned Airways so that has sorted one issue out for me.

So, rudestuff you did zero to CPL with them?

It's a shame I can't DM you to find out some more specifics..

Thanks anyway, I thought i might have had a better response considering their popularity on the social media.

Hi,

I'm curious what training you did there and will you be using them again? I'm considering the zero to fATPL as it's close to my home.

Are they busy? It's just that I'd need them to be pretty flexible with the training because of my job.

I'd say the one thing that worries me is that both ASW and airways next door is that they seem to pump out a lot of CPL's with not many success stories. I wonder how well they are regarded in the industry.

Appreciate your comments, all the best.

Hi Chris,

I did CPL and MEIR there in the summer, night rating the year before and PPL quite a while back in 2010. All of which I thought was great! What I didn't do there was ATPL theory (as they didn't offer it at the time), hours building and MCC (coming soon I think). They are very flexible and happy to work around jobs etc.

ASW and AFT are both fairly busy, ASW more so with PPL and related ratings, AFT only do the more advanced stuff generally.

AFT has a excellent reputation in the industry and a large percentage of the mil guys/gals go there. I'm not sure if they really promote their success stories so much, but I know many of them that have got jobs quite quickly. ASW also has a good reputation (inc. flybe) with many success stories, including myself.

On a side note though, some airlines (inc RYR) don't care one bit where you trained.

Just my €0.02 worth, hope it helps

I really appreciate your feedback, it all goes towards making a positive decision on the best training provider to suit me.

Thanks again
