MCC - where to take it?
Hello all
I'm currently about to finish CPL, modular, and it's time to think about the MCC. Any feedback I can have from your past experiences would be most appreciated.

I did my MCC/JOC at Simtech in Dublin. Overall I was happy with the course (and price to quality ratio). Includes housing and transport, though the hotel was not amazing and in a dodgy neighbourhood. But I'm happy I went there and gladly recommend it.
Also, if you care about it, the course is done on the exact sim ryanair uses for their assessment; 4 out of my 5 course members went for the ryr assessment and they all passed it without a hitch ; Same for other mates that went there. Frankly I think that says more about ryr than the course, but take it as you wish.
Remember to have fun! It goes by quicker than you think and it is certainly a new experience. Also, enjoy being bored as the pilot monitoring half the time
Edit: Simtech offers a 28 hrs MCC/JOC on a fixed 738 based sim, housing and all transport included for 4200€ (at the time). All you have to pay additionally is your flight to Dublin (and your meals obviously)

I did my mine at Pan Am Miami on the A320 FFS!Was a lot cheaper than europe and you can select B737CL/NG FFS too.Lots of Experienced instructors and training is very good

I said that in jest, though I personally did not find the PM role all that interesting. The course at simtech had some exercises that focused more on the PM role and others on the PF role. I was also lucky that my partner was a very capable pilot as well and often didn't need much prompting or assistance, if at all. So for some sorties the PM really just did not have a whole lot to do.
Also, simtech runs the course in 4 hour slots where you both fly the same 2 hour sortie, alternating back to back. Sometimes it just isnt that interesting to see the exact same route or problem, just from the other seat, especially if you know it is coming and already saw the pitfalls before; it is just more enjoyable as the PF to deal with single engine stuff for example! Simtech also has 5am starts and 2 am finishes; I hope you can agree with me that not all tasks are as engaging as others in the wee hours of the morning!
Feel free to disagree! I was just sharing my experiences. In my case, it just emphasized to me that I am not a good cut for airline flying and prefer the handling that GA brings to the table!

I used CRM Europe at White Waltham and was very happy with the value for money and quality of the course and instructors. The sim isn't special, but the skills being taught aren't to do with the sim, they're to do with working with multiple crew members. I am happy to recommend them.

Another recommendation for CRM Aviation. Well structured course and very experienced instructors. It was one of the most enjoyable courses I've taken.
