Smile What do I do next??

Hi all!

I remember joining this forum about 2 years ago just asking for some advice before going for PPL lessons, well now, I have that magic bit of paper! I'm 19 nearly 20, and I'm at that age where a lot of my friends are going travelling/moving to different countries.

I'm thinking of possibly going on a Gap Year in Australia/NZ just to experience life a little bit, get a sense of independence and take a break from the UK! On the other hand, I want to get the CPL and IR done. I'm doing it all as I earn the money, so haven't committed to any loan repayments, so isn't an issue.

Alls I was wondering was if anyone has done anything similar, like taken a break in training and whether it's had any impact, and whether a year in another country would 'better' your chances in the future when it comes down to the airline interview? Or do I get the CPL/IR done, then go on the gap year?

Big decision to make, and I thought this is the right place to ask, so I appreciate your advice! Many thanks,

Mate go do the gap year first. Getting your CPL now isn't a priority. The pilot job market now is very bad so don't feel that your missing out.

Go to Oz and NZ and have a great time. Anything can happen. You might meet a nice girl and stay! Oz has gotten rather expensive in the last 10 years due to the falling pound and high inflation in. When you get there don't mess around. Get a job. Any job and start earning. You don't have to get hammered every night either. Be smart. The amount of Brits I see running home after 3 months cause they blew all their cash on booze is astounding.

Pm me if you want anymore advice.
