Cheapest place in europe for conversion?
FAA CPL IR ME to EASA CPL IR ME?
Any info on Baltic, Poland, Eastern Europe?
Any links to schools?
Here is prices I got so far.
Most of them is including exam-fees and a/c rental, but excluding housing.
Still, there is some variation and differences due to currency rates.
Norway:
Rψrosfly/luftfartskole - over 11.000 euro. Professional and reliable school. You will get good training here, no doubt.
They offer 13/night housing, otherwise Norway is expensive!
Sweden
Diamond Flight Academy - 7500 euro including housing.
I heard good feedbacks about that school from people I know.
Spain
Aerodynamics Mαlaga - 8175
Iceland
Keilir Aviation Academy - 6.040
Poland - comming up
Hungary - homming up
Everyone is welcome to contribute to this post.

I don't know what Aerodynamics Malaga is charging these days but it was 5990 (last time I checked) if you had a foreign ME rating. If you have a JAA ME class rating, and just needed to convert the MEIR, the price was 4990. It included 10 hours of sim time, 5 hours in a Beech Duchess, and it included all fees and even the examiner fee. I don't know anyone who was asked to pay a penny more than the quoted price. They also have very nice and affordable lodging available nearby right on the beach.
You will be done in less than 2 weeks, easily.
Consult them for the latest prices as they may have gone up.

Remember to take the cost of ATPL theory course plus exams into account as well.
There is no " standard" conversion anymore under EASA. Under JAR there was in many countries a minimum of 15 hours for a conversion, now it is based on your skill level and decided by the Head of Training of the FTO you choose to do the conversion with. You need to have passed all the ATPL exams though before you can do the conversion.
As for where it is cheapest , that is definately in Poland. A bit of a newcomer for flighttraining but a full EASA member with some excellent operators. I would say compared to Spain that Poland is at least 30% cheaper (and the instructors/ controllers actually do speak English
) and easy to visit from Skandinavia.
I did a large part of my training there and I can only recommend it, especially now you simply do the training there, but any other EASA country will issue you the rating/license. I heard of guys doing the conversion in Poland fully on aircraft for less than 4000 for the full ME/IR + CPL when they already had the theory, so definately worth checking out.

Could you give me name to a couple of schools down there?
I'm done with my theory, I have FAA CPL IR ME and I have just enough hours to convert (200TT, 100PIC, 50PIC X-C).
In Sweden its "training as required".
In Norway its 20hrs ME and 5 SEP. Half of it can be done it SIM.
Ill definitely will go for Pol or ESP, as it seems to be a lot cheaper options then Scandinavia

ATPL Written Exam Prices
Trying to find information for the ATPL theory exam prices. It looks like the UK charges 69 GBP per each exam (so 69 x 14 exams). Converting it to USD it will be about $1,500 total. I am exempt from taking a course as I hold an ATP(L) from both the FAA and Transport Canada and have over 9,000 hours, most of it in the A320 family. Does anyone know of other countries where it may be less expensive? Does it matter in which country I take the exams?

well, before you can start with the practical part of the conversion you first have to pass the theoretical exams and that's the biggest obstacle of the entire conversion! Don't underestimate it, a lot of people do!
I opted to do the theoretical part of the conversion in Switzerland via distance learning (online course), since I'm exempt from attending any classroom courses. When I started I thought it'll save me money and time, but looking back I'd probably wouldn't do it again, because it's quite difficult to keep up the motivation during the entire length of the course, especially as a "lone-warrior". I must admit, I certainly underestimated that. If I'd have to choose again, I'd most likely try to find a full-time classroom course provider.
Regrading the practical part of the conversion, I did a lot of research and came to the same conclusion (as already mentioned in this thread) that you'll find the best prices in Poland.

- Online course registration fee: 3300 CHF (~ 2680 )
- Final exam fees: 605 CHF (~ 491 ) - each time you go, independent on number of subjects you take
- Books: I already had the books (otherwise around 1000 for new books)
- Oxford CD's (JAA ATPL): ~ 600 (don't have the complete course)
- JAA/EASA First Class Medical: 500 (~ 100 in Poland)
- My budget for the practial part: ~ 5000 (still to come, planing to do it in Poland)
- MCC course (FSB Berlin): ~ 2000 (still to come)
- total: ~ 10.800 (in my opinion a pretty reasonable price)

Transonic: Who did you sit the online course with? Im in a similar situation to you. But since i reside in Asia I don't really have much of a choice or finances to do a classroom course so I'm down to online distance learning as the most convenient and cheapest option.
This is what I have so far guys: All prices in USD unless otherwise mentioned!
Oxfordistance Learning Course: $2340 (£1500) $2340+$2100 (this is 96pounds/exam in malaysia x 14exams, so if you're sitting in the UK its bit cheaper @69pounds)
=$4,440 and +$1870 (£1200) 2 wk refresher. (be warned crap service - they just want your money..)
Gulf Coast: CD-Rom Course = $1995, with bounded notes = $2750, Exams = $140 $1995+$2100= $4,095 (inc Jeppesen Student Route Manual worth $70) Great service, very helpful!!!!

Confuddled with conversions
Hi all, new to pprune
Ten years ago I got my FAA Cpl/me/ir and cfi in California, I notched up 500 hrs pretty quickly and then family issues required me to return to the UK, i havent had much flying time since but have started to look at getting back in the saddle recently. I am heading back over to the states for a holiday early next year and will revalidate everything once there but when it comes to converting to minimise costs i was looking at -
Bristol GS for the ATPL theory
then doing the practical CPL/IR conversion in poland/greece/iceland
Reading other posts it appears that this throws up an issue around where your license is issued as there are some saying you MUST do the IR in the UK and others saying that the IR is a rating and that its the CPL that MUST be done in the UK, which is correct and do either apply to conversions?
