JAA/EASA/JAR certifications

Hi,

I think I'm correct to say that a flight school needs JAA and JAR certifications for training to be valid for EU and UK respectively. But please could you tell me what EASA certification is required for?

Thanks, does that mean an ATPL course advertised as "JAA ATPL" is just as useful as an ATPL course advertised as "EASA ATPL"?
