Heya everyone,
I am currently in between AS and A2 and was wondering where I can contact to try and get Airside work experience at heathrow? I know its possible as one of my friends recently did it but that was via his college. I've asked my college, but they didn't have any contacts, but im still hopeful i can get a work experience placement at LHR

But seriously, isnt there any contacts around? I've tried emailing community services but they just replied saying they are only for the community and noise etc. I live right under the 09R's takeoff path so that would make me community right?

I'm a little surprised that a friend of yours managed to get work experience Airside. I stand to be corrected but I can't imagine BAA are going to let it happen. To get the pass you have to have/do

• A GSAT Course
• 5 year employment check
• Two References
• Criminal record check

I don't know if my employer was being slow but it took over a month to get my pass, I was told due to references.

It is possible to have a temporary pass but you have to be escorted at all times.

While it is good, and not unknown to get Airside work experience, it is unusual, for the reasons given above. Quite simply, employers dont want to have workers spending all day escorting a kid around, when they could be doing more important work. Additionally, there is an insurance issue there, and possibly a Health and Safety one too. If i was you I would look for something else.

Might i recommend looking at other, airside, companies related to aviation? Perhaps companies that makes parts for aircraft, or overhaul things? Or perhaps a Training/Simulator company? or perhaps operations somewhere? I think BA ops may be Landside at Heathrow.

Failing that, why not try your local flying club? They will be very grateful for a young, willing victim, sorry, Volunteer to help wash, move and tidy aeroplanes, in exchange for the odd (free) flight, etc.

Boeing 77W he done it via american airlines but he was involved with other non AA activities

thetimesreader84 problem with that is I live in ealing and there arnt any flying clubs around and I dont have a car to be able to go round every morning or so
