Bonus Aviation - Cranfield
OK, I've done the usual search and checkout out the SCROGGS index, but can't find anything on these guys.
They are one of a very few number of places that offer CPL tuition at weekends. Since I need to save up my holidays for the IR, this is very attractive to me.....so.......
The usual question goes something like "Can anybody currently studying or having studied CPL with Bonus at Cranfield please give the forum their opinions - especially interested if it was done part-time."
I am particularly interested in aircraft/instructor availability, good/bad experiences etc.
Thanks in advance to anybody who can offer an opinion.
Cheers
Simon

Pete G is fantastic... I had a few trips with him on my IR.
The school itself is very good - I had no complaints. Availability of the a/c shouldn't be too bad - the Tomahawks are used by PPLs at weekend but the Arrows less so. Try to have a word with one of the instructors and make sure they're happy coming in at weekends - most work mon-fri as it is. Otherwise I have no complaints.... they got me first time passes in both my CPL and my IR.

I just finished a course there a few weeks ago. Just make sure you don’t get this old instructor named Jim, he is a frustrated pilot and an ASS. He smokes all day long and acts like he is the best pilot in the world. He has obviously not looked at JAR-OPS in a while because his figures were always off. His de-briefs include no useful information and his overall teaching skills are very lacking. I am not the only person who thinks this man is a jerk, just ask around. Someone should just tell him to retire.
There are two instructors named Simon, both EXCELLENT. If you have a choice, choose either of them. The chief instructor, Pete G. is a gentleman and easy to talk to. The place is relatively well run but there is a constant smell of cigarette smoke around the whole facility and the bathrooms are filthy. Bring your own towel to dry your hands, or just air dry them.
Message me if you need any other info.
