Q for Aberdeenshire NE Scotland Flyers

Any of you sheep botherers know of a strip near Turriff , going up to look at a forklift and the thought of driving up there before the bypass opens isn’t very appealing. Closest I can see is Longside at about 15 miles away.

What is your minimum runway length? There was a small farm airstrip about 2 or 3 miles straight north of Turriff some years ago, but it had only about 1,000ft.

No but I've landed in random fields before, near towns I was visiting and if your there for more than a brief stop the cops usually show up thinking its a crash.

Boyndie is available, rivals you in having a tea shop within a short walk.

The old Aberdeen Gliding Club site was on North Litterty farm. You could check with the farmer about fences and crop. Nearer than Boyndie.
Name sent on PM.

There is a private strip somewhere near Turriff. Contact Sandy Mitchell. You can get his contact number from the website Alexander Air Flight Training

Thanks for all the help folks but trip has been cancelled, the JCB salesman closed me out on a machine in Dundee so don’t need to see the Merlo in Turriff. No more walking up and down the airstrip filling in potholes with a spade for me, I’ll be the guy in the swanky yellow telehandler

Is that referring to the old RAF Base called "Banff"? If not, where is it?
