Attn: iPhone 7 GPS issues
From about Autumn reports appeared that the iPhone 7 series may have GPS issues. Now more and more reports coming in, see i.e. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7677433 . All the moving map addicts using new iPhones should keep an eye on it!
Foreflight have not indicated that they see any GPS issues.

Bad Elf have only just recommended updating to iOS10.2 after earlier problems with iOS10 (IPhone 7) but for third party devices.
I have an Ipad mini running 9.3.5 with Bad Elf so have avoided upgrading to iOS10 until cleared to update.

Presumably, that's Cambridge, Massachusetts. I've no idea if this is a real or 'virtual' University, so the study my or may not have any value whatsoever. Proper academic, particularly scientific studies, require rigorous independent verification to have any value, can't see that here.

So even this study is flawed. As far as I am concerned, my personal experience running Android has been trouble-free and I don't personally know anyone who has had any issues. This is in contrast to people who report overheating and shutdown of iPads and a poor quality of GPS from the internal device.
I guess as with many things, we each promote and support what we use and find ways of denigrating the opposition.
Probably get hacked by some ramsomware, now!

I think the war between iPhonists and Androids is sheer bull****, exactly like the Mac/Win war was. Both are mature enough nowadays to serve their specific purposes. And yes, I am using both, an Apple device mounted in the cockpit and an Android as backup in the seat pocket.
The current peculiarity with some iPhone 7 may just be a hardware flaw in production, which may or may not be corrected by software. We'll never find out what exactly, because the'll never tell us. But, this can happen to any device, totally independent of it being Apple, Samsung or whatsoever branded.
My driving force was just to make it transparent and transport the knowledge on the potential issue, totally independent of Apple or Samsung, as I feel it may produce uncomfortable situations in flight. It also is a warning to those cutting to the very edges of airspaces by GPS and hoping to get out of trouble if they present a track to fight a fine later - as the FAA stated clearly some years ago: if you are seen within an airspace by radar, you get a fine and no presented GPS track of yours will get you out of that. Some judges in Europe may see that differently, but it remains gambling in my eyes.
