Newbie Challenge
So as I lament the greater difficulty for flying for newcomers, I remind myself of my responsibility to promote aviation to them. Today, I flew to my nearest flying club, about a 40 minute flight for me. I found a young fellow sitting on his own in the restaurant with a flight bag by his chair. I asked if I could sit, and engaged him in discussion about his flight training thus far, offering thoughts on what he said. I invited him for a flight, but he did not have the time, as he was off to a family event. But, in any case, I encouraged him.
I will now try to go there once a month, and encourage a new pilot. I challenge established owner pilots here to do the same... Who's up for the Newbie Challenge? Reach out in person to promote aviation....
